Rachel Cleverly is a poet and producer.

She is a Barbican Young Poet, and an alumnus of Apples and Snakes’ ‘The Writing Room’ and BBC Words First. She has an MA in Creative Writing Poetry from the University of East Anglia, and has been shortlisted for the UEA New Forms Award, commended in the Winchester Poetry Prize and published by flipped eye, The North, SPAM, Ache Magazine and The Feminist Library. She was a writer-in-residence at BBC Norfolk and Rich Mix, and has performed at venues across the UK, from rural pubs to Hammersmith Apollo.

Rachel is an Old Vic Theatre Maker. Her debut play, ‘.net’, has been performed as part of a rehearsed reading series at Omnibus Theatre’s Engine Room.

Rachel works as an Education Officer at The Poetry Society, where she manages the Foyle Young Poets of the Year Award. Prior to this, she has produced events and programmes with organisations such as the National Centre for Writing, the Southbank Centre, Art Fund and Clore Leadership.

She is a trustee at Arvon, one of the UK’s leading creative writing charities, and was a Youth and Community Forum member at the Old Vic. She is currently working as a consultant at the Barbican Centre, where she is meeting with the Artistic Director, CEO and board to shape their artistic offering to ensure their new EDI strategy is embedded in all stages of their creative development work.
